Rouke's Drift had nothing on this! Holmes Chapel showed up at Trafford with a much depleted team - only 6 players including the veterans Gary Masson and Coach, Gregg Pickard. But battled hard and at one stage looked set to pull off an unlikely victory

The opening phase was easy going for Trafford and they raced into an early lead and they looked like they would be handing out a thrashing to the visitors. But team spirit is high in Holmes Chapel and the comeback was started with Danny Wareham weaving through a crowded zone to lay up. John Whelan then showed why he is the Hornets current player of the season by scoring the rest of the points in the quarter backed magnificently by Guy Johnson and Gary grabbing Defence rebounds. The Quarter ended all square - was there hope yet for the underdogs?

Q2 was a scrappy affair as Holmes Chapel tired and Trafford used their bench - the Hornets briefly took the lead only to see in whittled back down by Trafford. Hornets trailed by one at the break - still living in hope.

The Hornets took the lead again at the start of the 3rd quarter but by now Trafford were playing their rested first 5 players and were beginning to drop 3 pointers. and the home team opened a 10 point lead against a tiring defence. But Sam Bithell found his shooting range and dropped a couple of long range shots and Guy and John also found success close to the basket.

The Hornets were 7 points down going into the last quarter and on their knees but the never say die spirit held and a high scoring quarter ensued. Sam plopped 3 more 3 pointers but Trafford were now getting fast breaks away. Comedy moment of the night happened when Gregg scrambled for a free ball grabbed it and stood up only to find a defender was still sitting on his shoulders!

The Hornets lost by 10 but left with their pride intact. A magnificent effort especially by the 4 players that played for the whole game.
