Burnley travelled to Blackpool for their sixth league game of the season with point guard, Cummins, opening the scoring for Burnley with four points. Burnley ’s Dave Bolt and McEvoy added the next 5 points and after five minutes were up 11 4. Blackpool came back strong with Rump and Astrada hitting three-point shots, answered by Burnley ’s Sinclair, then McEvoy, who hit a three-pointer of his own. The score stood at 16 each going into the second quarter. Dave Bolt and Sinclair then scored a flurry of points in the alongside Madej, with Burnley attacking inside Blackpool ’s zone – close to the basket. Burnley coach, Thompson, was very pleased with the defense, which limited Blackpool ’s scoring opportunities and gave Burnley a strong lead, 44-33 at the half. In the third quarter, momentum swing in Blackpool’s favour, as Burnley went scoreless until the fourth minute with the score at 44 apiece and the home team on the charge. This game was heating up, with Burnley’s Hyland and McEvoy being awarded 2 free throws each and before Daz Bolt came streaming into Burnley’s offecse with ten points of his own, leaving Blackpool trailing by 60-53 going into the last period. Blackpool exerted pressure in the tight areas and the game gathered pace with Burnley ’s Cronin and Ashworth demonstrating excellent point guard skills an dhard nose defense. Astrada came to Blackpool ’s rescue, getting them back into the game and edging ahead by a point in the seventh minute, 69-70. Burnley threw everything into regaining the lead, with Cummins converting two essential free throws, Daz Bolt and Madej also scoring to secure Burnley ’s control of the game to win 79-74.
