MANCHESTER AREA BASKETBALL LEAGUE
2007/8 Season Match Reports 17th April 2008
Premier Division Canute 67-80 Stockport Atlas
  Report by Nikos Silikas

Stockport needed to win this game to secure the second spot in the Table.

The first quarter saw a fast open game by both teams with Stockport trailing by 25-24. In the second quarter Stockport showed more commitment on defence keeping Canute to 11 points. Offensively, 7 consecutive points by Sid at the beginning of the quarter and a modest 6-0 run at the end had Stockport winning the quarter by 20-11 and leading at half-time by 44-36.

The third quarter was almost identical to the second. Stockport won by 19-11 mainly thanks to an 8-2 run at the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter went to Canute by 20-17 but it wasn’t enough to change the game, just the final score-line which was 80-67 for Stockport.

Dave Siddall was the top scorer with 18 points and Tom Sutton followed with 17 points which was a reversal to the previous game. Dave Lloyd had 12 points with two 3-pointer shots. One more solid performance by the team and securing the second spot in Premier league. An accomplishment which the team deserves. Well done to everybody! The play-offs promise to be very interesting...
