Report by Nikos Silikas |
This was a much closer game compared to the one in the first round between the two teams. An explosive first quarter with some great offensive moves by both teams saw Stockport leading by 27-16 at the end of the quarter. The second quarter went to Chorlton 19-18 and at half-time Stockport was leading by 45-35 in a balanced game. In the third quarter a combination of 3-pointer shots and aggressive full-court defence by Stockport took Chorlton by surprise and resulted in a massive 24-2 run. At the end of the quarter Stockport was up by 73-41 and effectively had secured the game. Chorlton, much to their credit, came out fighting in the last quarter and again the game was balanced with final score of 87-60 and particularly the performances left both teams pleased. An ageless Nigel ‘Sid’ Siddall led all scorers with 20 points, followed closely by Tom Sutton who ‘bombarded’ Chorlton with 5 3-pointers and a total of 19 points. Dave Siddal contributed 12 points. All ten players scored. For the third consecutive game the entire Stockport squad was on the scoresheet. Next game is the title decider against Tropics. |
