| Premier Division | Oxford Phoenix 61-84 Stockport Atlas |
| Report by Nikos Silikas | |
This was the first game back after the Christmas break and the team showed the lack of training over that period. Offence was not disciplined for most of the game. Overall, it was a strange game where the first quarter was pivotal and effectively the game was over by half-time. This relaxed the players even further. Next week’s game against Burnley will be a lot tougher and the team needs to focus in order to achieve a positive result. In the first quarter Stockport played its best defence of the game and was leading by 20-8 in the end of the quarter. The second quarter was still a dominant performance for Stockport, although Oxford Phoenix improved their offence. After half-time Stockport utilized their height advantage and led by 43-24. The second half was more balanced. In the third quarter Stockport only won it by 1 point and in the fourth by 3 points. Stockport scored 20 or more points in each quarter which proved to be sufficient to win this game. Pete Roehford had his best game for Atlas scoring 14 points (10 in the last quarter) and led the scorers. Kostas Katsikaronis had 12 (all in the first half) the same as Dave Siddall. Sid followed with 10 points. Everybody helped and can be supported by the fact that 11 players scored! There are some tough games now ahead of us... |
