| Premier Division | Stockport Atlas 65-49 Canute 1 |
| Report by Nikos Silikas | |
This wasn’t a vintage performance by Stockport but it was job done. After a couple of unlucky results Stockport managed to finish strong before the Christmas break and is now featured as top of the league at the first half of the season. The second half of the season promises to be more exciting. In the game against Canute the away team seemed very determined and focussed and at the end of the first quarter they were leading by 15-11. In the second quarter Stockport balanced things and at half-time was ahead by 26-24. It was a low scoring half that seemed to suit Canute better than Stockport. In the second half, Stockport came out firing. Mike Greenough scored three consecutive three-pointer shots and Stockport outscored Canute by 24-11 at the end of the third quarter. That 15-point gap proved to be sufficient and the last quarter was balanced. The final score was 65-49 for Stockport. It was a low scoring game but also a good defensive performance from Stockport. Neil Siddall led the scorers with 14 points and three 3-point shots, followed by Noel Power with 12 points and a dominant presence in offensive and defensive boards. Mike Greenough scored 9 points as did Andy White. Mike scored all his points in the third quarter and Andy in the fourth! Finally, Nick Love scored 8 points and brought a lot of energy into the team and was an inspiration to everybody! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everybody! |
