Report by Nikos Silikas |
A depleted Stockport squad (only 8 players available) entered this game very cautiously and was 6-0 down after 2 minutes. However, two runs one of 14-0 and the other of 10-0 gave Stockport the lead after the first quarter with 24-10. The tempo was the same in the second quarter with a 12-2 run at the beginning of the quarter and at half-time the score was 43-19. The experienced Oldham squad started to react in the second half and inspired by John Lindsay Oldham won the third quarter by 15-14. In the fourth, Stockport regained the momentum winning it by 20-14 and a final score of 77-48. Stockport had a high percentage in free throws with 10/12, while Oldham only managed 7/16, missing most of them in the first half. Dave Siddall scored 24 points. Tom Sutton had another superb game with 19 points. In a rare appearance, coach Nikos Silikas scored 11 (with 3 3-pointers) and the always reliable ‘Sid’ had also 11. All eight players scored. |
