Burnley 68 Bury 81 Prem Div 2006/7 Season Report by Peter Parker |
Bury managed to get to Burnley late and without kit and without a proper warm up, they seemed flat and tired. Alan Hall managed to find his groove scoring ten points although Burnley held a two point lead then went on an 8 to 4 surge to end the quarter up by 6. The second quarter was a low scoring affair with Usman Babu and Ste White hitting the target, a low undertone of energy was definitely lacking but Bury somehow hung in and were only down 1 at the half. Bury started a quick five for the start of the second half which paid dividends as the ball was moved well and the hustle picked up. Ste Graham and Ste White again were the contributing factors. Switching to a zone stifled the home side and Bury outscored Burnley 25 to 12 to take a 12 point lead after three quarters. However, Bury have been in many a situation where this lead cannot be taken for granted and within six minutes Burnley were back within 8. Only a couple of three's from Mike Nichols kept the lead at a reasonable distance. Bury made changes and went on an 8 to 0 run with Stu Jackson getting in on the action. Bury held a steady ship and ran off winners 81 to 68. A much needed win for the team after 5 consecutive losses. Mike Nichols and Alan Hall led scorers with 16 point apiece. |
