MANCHESTER AREA BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Oldham Titans 49 Canute 1, 76

Div 1, Feb 8th 2007

Report by Ian Brown

If there was one quote to sum up this performance from us, "too many turnovers" - Anthony Barrand, would be it.

Though we added forward Matt Shaw to help our front court, it was the new five of Adam Smith, James Burns, Ian Brown, Anthony Barrand, Adrian Willey that started the game.

Having played Canute 1 earlier on in the season, we went out with the defence that won us that game - a box and one on Canute's guard, Ross.

We went behind early and really struggled at both ends of the floor. Our defensive rotation was poor and our passing was the worst that it has been all season. If we weren't throwing the wrong passes, we were throwing the right passes too hard, too far or far enough. To be honest, it was embarrassing.

Having gone into the timeouts knowing where we needed to step it up, we were content in not taking care of the ball for the remainder of the game.

Anthony Barrand and Adrian Willey pretty much gave their all and were solid for us in defence and went after every loose ball. Although the rest of the team had moments of typical Titans basketball, we literally couldn't maintain it for the full forty minutes.

A worthy win for Canute. We just didn't come to play.
