Rossendale scored freely to begin with and almost totally shut out the Phoenix at the defensive end to lead 29-3.

However, missed shots, slightly less intense defence (complacency perhaps?) combined with Phoenix raising their game by a few levels saw the gap close and close and close to about 6 or 7 points with only minutes to go in the final quarter.

Judging by their reactions to every call made by the referees Rossendale were panicking but with a final flurry of baskets they will be back for the final.
