Penwortham 1-80 Bury 93 Pem Div 2006/7 Season By Peter Parker |
Penwortham are a well disciplined team and came out firing from long range in the first quarter building an early ten point lead behind ten amazing points from M. Poltdrak in a two minutes spell hitting three triples and a bonus to give the home side some confidence. Bury's team play and switch to man defence countered and finished the quarter on a 19 to 2 run to take the lead for good. The second quarter featured much of the same with great offensive rebounding by Stu Jackson. Penwortham struggled to make any mark offensively and Bury took a 23 point lead at half time. Penwortham, a determined bunch, cut the lead to 15 midway through the third but again Bury, led by Alan Hall's offense kept the game out of reach going into the final quarter. It was now that the home side decided to pick up the intensity putting full court pressure on the Bury guards, causing a few turnovers and poorly selected shots from the visitors. Penwortham however, slowly cut the deficit to eleven but didn't have enough firepower to get the job done. A 93 to 80 point win for Bury seemed reasonable. |
