Stockport 75 Penwortham 59 Prem Div 2006/7 Season Report by Nick Silikas |
Inevitably, the Cup Final on Sunday was on the players minds. Stockport started the game very strong with Noel Power dominating the boards and enabling the team to run the court. Dave Siddall was the likely recipient of fast breaks and with some strong moves he finished the quarter with 9 points and the game with 14. At the end of the first quarter Stockport was up by 24 to 11. In the second quarter Steve Boonham came off the bench contributing 20 points to the game and the score at half-time was 41-24. Stockport started the second half exactly where they left off and led 50-29 after 25 minutes. Penwortham came back strong and at the end of the quarter the score was 54-41. The last quarter was a bit uneventful and saw the two teams exchanging baskets reaching the final score of 75-59 for Stockport. Stockport had the chance to use all eleven players and try a few alternative formations in view of the Cup Final on Sunday. Apart from the two top scorers, there was a lot of help from Dave Lloyd and Anthony Crow with 9 points each. |
