Open trial for the Bury Blue Devils Senior men’s Local league (Div 2) team

Venue: Philips High school (Bury Ball Hall)
Date: Sunday 15th May
Time: 4pm – 6pm.
Cost: £3.00 (please bring correct money)

We want players who:

  • Want to develop.
  • Can attend training sessions.
  • Are financially responsible and can afford £25 per month (concessions available and discounts allowing for duties within the club). This is the only obligation of being part of the club.
  • Understand the strength of the individual lies with the team.

In return you will receive:

  • Quality coaching from a Level 3 Coach and UKCC coach tutor.
  • At least two training sessions per week.
  • A monthly personal Performance Profile to monitor your progress.
  • The opportunity to compete in the Manchester Area Basketball League Division Two.
  • Kit – to be returned after each game.

Training will be:- Friday and Sunday evenings, 7.30pm – 9.00pm, venue to be decided. Other training sessions Tuesday 10th May for ten weeks, 7.30pm – 8.15pm at Castle Leisure Centre.

Manchester Magic & Manchester Mystics Junior Basketball Trials

Manchester Magic and the Manchester Mystics are running Basketball trials on Saturday 11th May at Amaechi Basketball Centre, Whalley Range High School, Wilbraham Road, M16 8GW.

These trials are for any boy or girl who is looking to play for either our Magic or Mystics teams in the 2013/2014 season.

Pride Games Women's Basketball Tournament in Manchester on 8th June

Womens LBGT Basketball Tournament 8th June 2013This coming June, Pride Games and the Slam Dunkin' Divas will be hosting the first LBT Women's Basketball Tournament here in Manchester, and we would like you to be part of it!

Tournament Information

Registration for the tournament is £35; the price also includes entertainment on the Saturday night and Sunday Brunch. To register, please go to http://2013basketball.eventbrite.co.uk.

The tournament is open to basketball players and teams of all levels. We will have a total of 8 teams, at a "first come first served basis", so you are advised to register as soon as possible. There will be 2 groups of 4 teams, and all games will be played under one level.

If you register as an individual, we will assign you to a new team - no problem!

A few sets of preliminary rounds will be played in the morning and early afternoon, with a break for lunch in between. The semi-finals and the final will take place in the afternoon. We will close the tournament with an awards ceremony.

Weekend Schedule

The weekend is currently scheduled as follows:

  • Friday: Registration and Welcome from the Divas
  • Saturday: Basketball Tournament (until 6pm) followed by party/pub crawl on Canal Street
  • Sunday: Brunch at the Cornerhouse (http://www.cornerhouse.org/)

Manchester Summer Basketball Tournament

Manchester Summer Basketball Tournament Andrew Thrower (Tropics Basketball Club) has organised a basketball tournament on 24th-26th August at Wright Robinson College and would like to invite both mens and ladies teams from MABL to take part.

STRUCTURE

The tournament will feature both a mens and a womens competition. On the Saturday each team will play a round robin group game against every opponent in their group. The top teams from each group will then go into the Championship competition and the bottom teams into the Trophy competition which will commence with a round robin group stage on the Sunday. The qualifying teams in the group stage will then play a knockout stage on the Monday with the semi-final and final of the mens and womens Championship competition guaranteed to be played on the official Manchester Magic show court in front of a crowd on the tiered seating. There will also be a 3 point shooting, guard and slam dunk competition.

PRICE

Entry fee per team is £150 due before the closing date of Friday 26th July. Entry fee per player registration is £10 with players able to register any time from team entry to the evening of Friday 23rd August.

To reserve your team's place, a non refundable deposit of £50 is required with the remainder of the team fee due prior to the closing date for entries. Team payment can be made by BACs transfer or cheque and payment instructions will be sent to you after signing up your team.

VENUE

The venue is the home of the Manchester Magic, Wright Robinson College. The tournament will be played across 3 courts, with the semi finals and finals played on the full show court in front of a tiered audience of up to 400. The venue features ample free parking, 14 changing rooms, a shop for drinks and snacks and a large seating area to relax in between games. Bench seating will be provided around the courts to spectate the action and a viewing gallery will also be available. Public liability insurance is provided for all participants and spectators via the college and trained first aiders and fire marshals will be on hand.

SOCIAL

The social aspect of MSBT is very important to us and we are working on partnerships with local venues and DJs to bring you post-match entertainment. Details to follow.

Lancashire Basketball Association Central Venue League

For the last few seasons Burnley Basketball Club have organised a Central Venue League for U14 and U16 non National league teams.

Games are played on Wednesday night, U14 CVL will cost £18.00/game and U16 CVL will cost £25.00/game. U14 format is 40 minutes running clock and U16 is proper game.

Refs and table officials are provided along with kits and bibs if required
